Being that I’ve been in business the last year as a full time photographer, you’d think I’d have all my ducks in a row by now. In reality, I’m absolutely nowhere that I need or want to be at this point. I’m happy where I’m at, but I’m not satisfied with the work I’ve been creating and I honestly don’t think I will ever know what I need to do in order to get to that point.
One thing I can definitely say is that while looking back, I’m confident in knowing that I’ve at least progressed. In recent months, I’ve really felt like my work has plateaued. I needed to do something about it. I needed some sort of inspiration and new ideas to really refresh my mind on how to approach my business. In perfect timing- two of my favorite wedding photographers in the industry popped up in my Facebook feed stating that they were going to be hosting a workshop together. It’s crazy how things fall into place! I immediately jumped on the opportunity. I couldn’t pass this one up.
Although Nessa K is from Baltimore, and Sara (from Dylan and Sara Photography) is from Boise, the workshop itself took place in Austin, Texas. It was quite the adventure for me because I’ve never visited this city before. The entire experience truly exceeded my expectations. I love that the photographers I look up to are so willing to help others who are still growing in their work. They were both completely open to every single question that myself and any of the other workshop attendees had. We learned so many new ideas on how to run our business, how to reach out to potential clients, post processing–everything! Going to this workshop was extremely beneficial–not only in that I left Austin with a completely refreshed mind on how to approach my work, but I also left with so many new friends from all over the nation (and world!).
Here are some of my favorite shots from the workshop-from both the sessions we did, as well as everything in between:
Thanks to Dylan Howell for taking this shot of all of us together!!! Also, thanks to Sam Hurd for the photo bomb! Good memories with everyone. Also- I can’t forget to share a picture that I took only so I could remember what I called “the best poptart in the world”:
Thanks again to Nessa Kessinger and Sara Byrne for the amazing experience.
Love love love! The shot of us is so great and I love all your detail shots of Austin and SoCo, especially the ones at night
It was so absolutely amazing to have met you! :) I’m absolutely loving all these photos, too. What a fun two days! <3
