I’m such a sucker for small, intimate weddings. That’s exactly what Shane and Alya did for their very DIY, traditional-style wedding in Beulah, Colorado. I love to consider myself a Beulah, Colorado Wedding photographer for many reasons: one of them being that Beulah is one of the most beautiful and quaint little towns in Southern, Colorado and it is such a wonderful and quiet little place to get married. The temperature there seems to always be perfect, and the surrounding forest and parks are so different from other areas in Colorado from what I have seen. The trees stand so tall and beautiful as though they are protecting all of the land surrounding the beautiful Beulah, Colorado valley.
Shane and Alya’s wedding was very classic. Alya was sure to incorporate all the traditional details into her wedding, including something old (vintage handkerchief), something new (her lace overlay shoes), something borrowed (bobby pins from her sister) and something blue (stitched heart with wedding date under her dress). On top of that, the two got married in a sweet little white church with a bell on top that rang right after they were pronounced husband and wife!
Their reception was decorated with tons of all-white colored decor: Lace details adorned all the tables, all the treats at the sweet station were in the color white. Their beautiful white cake (by Colie’s Cakes and Pastries in Trinidad, Colorado) was the center of attention between all the lace and pearls! I also can’t seem to get over how absolutely gorgeous her bridal bouquet was. Robin at Flowerama in Pueblo, Colorado really knew what she was doing when she put together this beautiful bouquet. Roses, Peonies, and Pearls seem to make the PERFECT combination, especially when placed between all the lighter toned greens that were also incorporated into the bouquet. I could have photographed those flowers all day.
I not only love small and intimate weddings because they’re so sweet and genuine, but also because it gives us a TON of extra time to relax and enjoy taking some beautiful wedding portraits. Needless to say, after the celebrations were put on at the church with Shane and Alya’s closest family and friends, we went out into the beautiful forest at Pueblo Mountain Park just a few minutes away and we spent the rest of the afternoon soaking in the beautiful light. It was a special way to end the day! Congratulations to Shane and Alya and I wish you an eternity of love and happiness!

I’ve known Alya since she was 8 yrs. old, and these are truly amazingly wonderful photos. Not a detail was missed and the day’s ambience beautifully captured. .It was such an unforgettable day — lovely in every way, filled with treasured memories that will last for many, many years. Best of all, Malissa’s presence was never intrusive or obvious, letting the Bride and Groom’s true selves shine forth.
