Jayden and KC are a sweet couple who were obviously destined to be together no matter what. When Jayden contacted me to photograph her wedding well over a year ago, she lived in Florida at the time and we talked about all the details of the big day through email. I could tell immediately how special this was going to be. This girl has the biggest heart I’ve ever known in someone her age and it’s easy to see how her now-husband KC fell so quickly for her. Their relationship started out long distance… very long distance. Jayden was first introduced to KC while he was deployed and their love started to kindle via emails and phone calls. Jayden told me, “We would email and talk on Skype and whenever he got a free minute he always would pick up the phone and call.” A week after KC got home from his deployment to Afghanistan, he flew to JFK airport in New York City where Jayden picked him up and met him face to face for the first time. “The first thing he did before saying ‘hello’ was pick me up and kiss me.”
How did you know he/she was the one?
Jayden: I knew he was the one when I went to visit his family in Oregon for Christmas of 2012. I remember sitting on the couch in his mom’s living room and looking up at him, without him knowing, while he was standing and interacting with everyone around. I got this warm sensation in my heart and I knew from that moment I didn’t want to spend another second without him.
KC: I knew she was the one when I went to New Jersey to spend Thanksgiving with Jayden and her family shortly after my first tour in 2012. I just remember sitting at the Thanksgiving table and looking at her while she laughed and joked with friends and family, thinking I had never seen something so beautiful in my entire life and I couldn’t imagine living life without her in it.
After a long wait and a year of planning, the rest of their lives together have finally begun:
